After starting out with 3 years of Certified Dental Assisting experience between 1993-1996. Carrie decided to attend the Dental Hygiene Program of Vancouver Community College. During which she received the Edward Chesko scholarship/award for a dental hygiene student showing excellence in clinical periodontal care in 2000. Graduating the following year in June of 2001. A month later she started practicing, and working with Dr. Richard Jackson, as an Registered Dental Hygienist.
Carrie believes that each patient deserves an individualized hygiene treatment plan, focusing on their own unique dental, medical, and financial needs. She takes pride in her gentle, yet thorough, dental hygiene therapy. Attaining patient trust is her number one priority. She is trained and proficient in the following anesthetic options:
- Oraqix periodontal gel
- The Wand
- Variety of local anesthetics
Carrie has also practiced with many anxious patients that require nitrous oxide gas and/or oral sedation. She has also trained in and has experience with over one hundred patients using the Periowave photodynamic laser system that helps treat periodontal disease by targeting those specific bacteria that elicit periodontal disease.
When not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and mini schnauzer. She is endlessly trying to balance her two favourite pastimes: health/fitness and cake baking/decorating.
